No internet; BSNL woes :(
I'm now living in J P Nagar. We moved in just 10 days back and I'm loving this locality. :) Its a very peaceful place and with lots of trees around, its cool weather all day. But things are pretty bad when dealing with the Bescom and BSNL folks here. Corruption hasn't moved out here in these companies, yet.
As a result, I've had no internet connectivity from 8th of this month, thanks to the very nice, caring BSNL folks who like to carry over things to the next day, everyday. Even the frantic calls to Area Manager, General Manager to the local Commercial officer has helped very little.
So, folks, if you've sent me a mail and I haven't answered it, you know the reason why.

I've been hunting for a good laptop with a budget of max 80k (Rs).
I'm looking for one that:
* supports linux
* has atleast 4 hrs of on-battery time
* supports wi-fi.
Let me know if there's one you know that has these features and is available in Bangalore. And yeah, I've been to laptop-world on KH Road (the showroom sucks), and also checked out the one on Brigade. Also, Acer is not an option. ;)

Where were you living before?
Why not Acer? I find a cheap non-Windows AMD Sempron laptop to be a good option, something that Acer does offer.

Why not Acer? I find a cheap non-Windows AMD Sempron laptop to be a good option, something that Acer does offer.
I'm yet to come across a nice feedback or review for Acer. Other than that it starts from a highly affordable range, it doesn't look promising enough. I checked out all the Acer models available... the ferrari model is out of reach for me; I didn't really like the other ones that much.
I'm looking for a good one in hp or toshiba.

ah, don't ask. The coverage had been poor. The voice gets echoed sometimes and there's too much of message spam. Too many reasons to get rid of it.

I had been to Computer Gadgets, Manipal Center last weekend. Saw a new Acer - AMD Turion based laptop there which was quite good. The person there told me that it would cost aroun 65k inclusive of all taxes and comes with a ATI Card as well. Dunno how good the ATI Card would be for Linux, but I hear Turion is nice.
